The band were guests of Pat Kenny last night, his final appearance presenting RTE's Late Late Show. After Magnificent and presenting Pat with some gifts, they also had some serious conversation. Edge, for example, has been looking at the build of the new show and thinks they might have designed the Eiffel Tower.

Wondered what the title of the new album is about? 'It's an image about the future and wanting to disappear into it...'

At the BBC on Friday the band talked about their admiration for Coldplay and what a great melodist Chris Martin is. Here's how the conversation went with Jo Whiley.

'The work we did in Fez was the most joyous and liberating part of the whole album process. It was what I had always imagined being in U2 would be about: just playing music for the joy of it with no real end in sight.'
