MTV Video Music Awards Get Vertigo

U2 are nominated in five categories for this year's MTV Video Awards.

The video for 'Vertigo' directed by Alex & Martin, is nominated for Best Group Video; Breakthrough Video; Best Direction in a Video; Best Special Effects in a Video; and Best Cinematography in a Video.

The band are up against lots of great acts in all categories.

In the 'Best Group Video' category for example, they're nominated alongside Black Eyed Peas ('Don't Phunk With My Heart'), Green Day ('Boulevard of Broken Dreams'), The Killers ('Mr Brighside') and Destiny's Child ('Soldier).

In the 'Breakthrough Video' category the band face competition from Eminem
('Mosh), Gorillaz ('Feel Good Inc'), Missy Elliot ('Lose Control') and Sarah
McClachlan ('World on Fire'). Congratulations here also to Directors Alex
and Martin - in this category band and director are nominated.

The 22nd Annual Awards Show will broadcast live from the American Airlines
Arena In Miami, FL on Sunday, August 28th at 8:00PM (Live ET/Tape Delayed
