11 November, 2009 Staples Center didn't exist in 1981
The Staples Center wasn't built yet, and it would have been too small for this young band from Ireland. I believe I saw their first LA show at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium. I never heard of U2 and my boyfriend took me because he's Irish and he heard this band is going to be huge some day. After see them I had to agree. I bought a Boy t-shirt and told all my friends. I had my hands on the stage while Bono ran back and forth with the flag of Ireland.
