New York City, NY, US / Madison Square Garden

'Ordinary Love, Extraordinary Girl.'
Lady Gaga in the house for the fifth night at MSG.

This show never fails to surprise. Tonight, after Makiko, from Tokyo (wearing a kimono, an Irish flag on her ceremonial fan) filmed Elevation for the 'Meerkat Moment', Bono was scanning the house for someone who might be able to play a piano.

Rising like a vision from the audience, up onto the stage stepped Lady Gaga, hugging the band members, before taking over the keyboard and sharing vocals for a raw and tender version of Ordinary Love.

'We can't fall any further if, we can't feel ordinary love.
And we cannot reach any higher, if we can't deal with ordinary love...

'Ordinary Love, an extraordinary girl, Lady Gaga,' as Bono put it and, after she left the stage to a rapturous reception, 'Princess, Queen, Wonder Woman of New York City...incredible.'

Lot of love for this moment online, including Gaga fan sites. 'Lady Gaga singing 'Ordinary Love' & wearing her iconic McQueen boots on stage with U2 at MSG right now.'  (@gagadaily)

'The Kings and the Queen of touring. United. How iconic.'( @ROARyals)

If that was the stand-out moment of this fifth night of eight in New York City, there were plenty of other highlights - starting with Bono announcing after I Will Follow: 'It's official, this is not Sunday evening, this is so Friday evening...'

And later telling everyone that  the band have decided to move in.

'New York City, Madison Square Garden. Where else you wanna be on a Friday evening? We love this place so much, we have clearly moved in. We are the Madison Square Garden House Band in residence for the summer. The Northside Boys taking your requests all week long...'

In the house band tonight, Adam Clayton ( 'the first man who believed this whole thing might be possible'),  Larry Mullen ('on the drums, forever and ever eternal, Larry Mullen Jr.')  and The Edge, 'who, with this brother, built his first electric guitar, and then, with his brother, blew up the garden shed that we were supposed to rehearse in. Still causing unstable chemical reactions, on guitars and everything else, The Edge.'

At the top of the show a spine-tingling Gloria referenced Van Morrison and Patti Smith while all the way at the other end of the night One took in The Beatles All You Need Is Love. It was a Sunday night like no other. 'This is a great place to go to church: Madison Square Garden with you people on a Sunday....'

No words. Second of three shows in NYC...Never Enough!
Great Concert!
It was the second show I got to catch in NYC on this tour and just like every other U2 show, it was spectacular!!! Thank you Edge, Larry, Adam and Bono (and Lady Gaga) for an amazing performance. Have fun in Europe, we'll be waiting to see you again soon here in the States! Oh, and here's my lobbying... if you take this (or any future) tour to South America, please include Uruguay as one of the stops!
Isabel Martinez
I have experienced three concerts. This was AMAZING!!!!
JABL We have to carry each other!
I was at the 7/26 show, my fourth time seeing U2. First time for this tour. The concert was the best I've ever seen hands down. The vibe was fantastic, GAGA was an awesome surprise. Loved how The Edge gently helped her down the stairs, LOVE HIM!!!!!!!! The screen allowed everyone access. Ending the night with ONE was perfect (my favorite), well aren't they all? Going again on 7/31 for the last night in US & MSG. I will never be the same again. THANK YOU U2 for being.
Even better than the real thing
Fell in love with U2 all over again after this tour. The 7/26 show was phenomenal with tracks I wasn't expecting to hear and made me content even though I missed the Achtung and Pop tours. The only other tour I attended was Vertigo and I+E beat it hands down. They rocked Bullet the Blue Sky even better than the album. I would see them every night in NYC if I could.
Oceans Apart
My brother and I hail from Killiney. He lives in NYC, I live in London Town. The Atlantic Ocean separates us. Our love of U2 brings us together. Big shout out to my big bro David Savage who will be at MSG on Friday 31st July #U2ietour
Mrs Marie Norton
My Daughter and her Boyfriend going from Dublin to New York in the morning for Concert in New York. It is the start of their Summer Vacation. They are so excited to be going to the Concert. Staying in New York for 3 nights then going to Brazil. Just wondering if they could go backstage to see the Band after the Concert. Thanking you, Marie Norton.
Going to Church
U2 is my god and Madison Square Garden will be my church tonight. I can't wait to see the show, always a moving experience. I know I will be close to the heavens in section 415.
2nd Show
I was at the 1st Night of this stop on the tour. The Band was great, the fans were great and the people I sat with were great. What a combination! I'm really looking forward to the next show. If anyone else is going, I'll be in Section 109! Give me a shout out people.
