I was driving home to S. Jersey for the weekend from college and heard radio commentary on WMMR about the Friday night U2 gig. I'd already fallen in love with the War album, and thought, 'I've got to go if I can.' I was lucky to get two tickets on the day of - Saturday - for this show and went. The show absolutely blew me away. The band was hot, tight, and really rocking! I remember Bono half climbing up the wall to the balcony level on one song before jumping down. The energy in the Tower was amazing. I walked out of the show feeling like I'd just experienced a religious experience...a revelation of sorts. From that moment, I was hooked on U2. Sadly, my tour shirt long ago about fell apart (and got too small) from excessive wear. Fortunately, I've been able to see the band many additional times through the years. They've never disappointed...thanks U2!

War Tour 1983_Phila Tower Theatre
2nd night of my 1st indoctrination to U2 in the live setting...as stated I went to 1st night on Friday evening having bought tickets way in advance....and bought tickets to THIS night on the DAY of the show....memory goes way back ...but I recall being in the Balcony at the Tower for both nights....1st night in the 1st row of the balcony I believe, and 2nd night several rows back in the Balcony....was fortunate growing up in Phila with the accessibility to these shows, not to mention to the band U2...still have the original War concert t-shirt...now have my children tuned in to U2....
