U2:UV Achtung Baby Live At Sphere #37

'Give the future a wave…'

It was a 'Rattle and Hum' night on the jukebox, with 'All I Want is You', 'Desire', 'When Love Comes to Town' and  'Love Rescue Me' featured in the pause between the Achgtung Baby tracks, and a snippet of Van Morrison's 'Into The Mystic'. The night ended lines from 'Gloria' and The Beatles' 'Blackbird' and a message of gratitude to the 17,000-strong crowd that mirrored the band's joyful energy throughout the evening: 'Blessings…thank you for taking care of this band for so long!'

What Bono Said

Before the band played 'Desire', news on something special on this penultimate weekend at the Sphere: 'We are filming tonight. So, this is the show that people will see after we go home. As a matter of fact, in the future, people will watch us watching you watching us….If everyone on the floor turns around and faces that way: Give the future a wave.

'Edge, you're from the future. Have you got a message for the people?'

Edge: 'Just getting to the future would be a good thing… where I come from we are so close, so so close…  to the perfect pint of Guinness. It's gonna happen'.

'Alright, that was a message from our WMD, our weapon of mass devotion, The Edge — and there is no such thing as perfection, you should know that, but, BUT, he's too tall, he's too good looking, the flying-while-sitting-in-for-Larry-Mullen-Jr-Dutchman that is on the drums, Bram van den Berg! Saved our arse, sir, thank you'.

'Ladies, ladieees (and some gentlemen) forget where we go to work, look who get to go to work with! The first manager of U2, the first person to believe we might have a future to manage, on the bass, his Royal Flushness, Lord Adam Charles Clayton!'

Shout Out

To Bob Geldof during 'Elevation': 'We believe in you … Bob Geldof, it's true!'

Incredible
I took my daughter for her 21st birthday. We flew out of Columbus, Ohio on Friday afternoon and got to Las Vegas a couple hours before the show. We got the Sphere and were blown away! It was like entering a spaceship or something. We were on the floor (Adam’s side) about 30-40 feet from the stage. As the band took the stage, we put on our “fly” glasses and started rocking! It seemed like the concert took 5 minutes. I used to sing “Love me tender” to her when she was a baby so there was certainly a tear shed during that song. Streets and Beautiful Day were beautiful but we both thought Vertigo stuck out. We went back to our hotel for a couple hours of sleep and hopped on the first flight home. It was a whirlwind of a trip and one we will never forget!

Felt Every Word and Chord
A truly immersive, intense and absolutely amazing experience. Every word Bono sang and every chord and beat was felt. It was felt as large as a stadium concert and as small as a concert hall. Yees!!!

Better than ever!
Was here back in October. Was here again tonight. They perfected it!! The surround sound was amazing and deeper bass. The opening to Until the End of the World was the best!! Can't wait for the video.
