All Night Long...

20 Jun 2005
If you're in Ireland on Saturday, you can be with the band all night long - even if you're not at the show.

This Saturday Irish TV station RTE will be hosting an entire night of programming dedicated to the band - it goes on for hours and hours! So if you're not screaming yourself hoarse at Croke Park, you can sing-a-long from your sofa. (And if you *are* going to be at the show, might be an idea to set the video)

Here's how it looks according to the RTE schedules:

'From 9pm, Saturday 25 June, Gerry Ryan will introduce brand new and archive material and footage in various programmes paying tribute to the band, their
songs and live act - and the whole thing will be 'punctuated with quirky interviews with the band and rare video clips chosen from the last three decades.'

'U2 - Brussels Backstage' is a short film about the huge collaborative effort that went into launching the European phase of the current Vertigo tour.

'U2 - The Show' goes back to the early stages of U2's career, from the simplicity of their first Boy tour through to the huge spectacles that were Zoo TV, Popmart and Elevation and up to the current Vertigo Tour.

'U2 - Covers' looks at some of the covers that have been made of U2 songs.

'U2 - Vertigo' features an interview with U2 manager Paul McGuinness, talking about the creative thinking behind the current tour.

'U2 - The Walk on Tour' takes a humorous look at U2's Dublin through the eyes of John Keogh.

'U2 -One' looks at the appeal of this particular song and the three accompanying videos that were made.

'U2 and I - Anton Corbijn' features the distinguished Dutch photographer talking candidly about his experiences over the past 23 years. He has been photographing the band since 1982 and is responsible for all of their album covers since 'The Unforgettable Fire', and has produced the most famous iconic images of U2.

There will also be a programme showing U2 live at Slane and a 'Music Express Special - Bono and The Edge'.
