At tonight's third show in Sydney Bono urged fans to raise the pressure on politicians ahead of this weekend's important G20 meeting in Melbourne.



As the band played the opening bars of One, Bono invited people to take our their cellphones and send a text: 'Call your mother, flirt with a stranger, bet on the Ashes,' he said. 'Or you can sign up to the campaign to make poverty history.

'This weekend the most powerful people in the world are meeting at the G20 in Melbourne. They can decide to put an end to extreme poverty... so tonight we're not looking for your money - we're looking for your voice.

'Text us... Join us ... Be one with us...'


The G-20 are finance ministers from twenty nations who represent two-thirds of the world's population. Campaigners against global poverty are demanding that rich countries deliver on the agreed UN target of allocating 0.7% of gross national income to international aid. .
