Bono, Guggi, Gavin, Tumble in New York

16 Aug 2001
Edge, Michael Stipe and film maker Jim Sheridan all feature in New York Tumble, a documentary about Bono, Guggi and Gavin Friday to be aired on Irish TV station RTE later this month.

Filmmaker Gary Jermyn, a long time friend, made the film about the relationship between Bono, Gavin and Guggi, during U2's recent New York shows.

In the documentary the three, who have known each other since their youth, talk about their friendship for the first time and Bono reveals that Gavin is 'the man who saved With or Without You.'

According to an early report of the documentary on gavinfriday.com, U2 had dismissed the song until Friday convinced them to continue work on it.

Jermyn himself goes back a long way with his subjects - he originally translated the Latin lyrics in U2's song 'Gloria'. Earlier this year, RTE aired his documentary 'An Irishman in New York.'
