A 90-minute VH1 special tonight offers US viewers a premiere of the 'Live in Boston' DVD.
U2: Elevation Live 2001 - the TV special - features a wide range of live tracks from the Boston show in June including Beautiful Day, Stuck in a Moment, Kite, New York, I Will Follow, Desire, Where The Streets Have No Name, With or Without You and Walk On.
`This thing that people are going to see on Friday is a moment in time where everything came together for us,' Bono told The Associated Press.
`We've been waiting since we were kids to play this tight and to have this kind of material. It took awhile and we've done some good stuff along the way, but this is our finest hour to date,' Bono added.
For years, U2 resisted a televised concert. `I think we've always been suspicious of television because it's such a passive medium. ... People keep walking in and out of a room, and turning you up and down,'' Bono said. `There's no control over the environment. Whereas when people are in the arena, you've created the environment.'
But Bono said that when U2 released All That You Can't Leave Behind U2 determined to reintroduce themselves to the US.
`The lesson we learned from going on TV early in the year and now is that there's something sort of democratic about it. You just have to not fear the flaws. The flaws are what make it interesting,' he said.
U2: Elevation Live 2001 airs at 9:00 p.m. (ET/PT) and will be immediately preceded by U2: Legends at 7:30 p.m. and a special half-hour U2 concert pre-show beginning at 8:30 p.m.
So that'll be a quiet night in then....
