Going, Going... Gone

Edge's Gibson Les Paul and a Fender Mustang once owned by Jimi Hendrix helped last night's Music Rising auction raise some $2.4m.

Edge's guitar, which he's been using in shows for more than 20 years, went for $240,000, while the Hendrix raised $400,000. A bass donated by Adam, Larry's tom-tom drum and Bono's shades also proved popular as did a saxophone signed by former President Bill Clinton and a pair of John Lennon's blue-tinted sunglasses.

All the funds will go to Music Rising, a charity set up by Edge and administered by Gibson Guitars which helps schools, churches and other community groups in bringing the music back to the Gulf Coast.
