Grammy's Elevate Album

7 Mar 2002

All That You Can't Leave Behind has leapt back into the US Top Ten.

The album, which won four Grammy Awards in Los Angeles last week, jumped 18 places in the Billboard Top 200 to No.10. In Canada the album jumped to No.8 and it is also back in the Australian Top Twenty.

All That You Can't Leave Behind, released in October 2000, has now sold 3.6m copies in the US alone, and more than 10m worldwide. At the 2002 Grammy Awards U2 collected Record of the Year, Best Rock Album, and Best Performance by Duo or Group with Vocal in both pop and rock categories.

Here's what Adam and Larry were saying about the album just after the recording finished.

'It was tough at times. There were dark moments. We chose to record in Dublin so you have to go home, deal with that leak in your roof as well. Danny thought it was interfering with making the record.'
Larry

'Bono's lyrics this time, in a sense, they're less poetic, less romantic and more real. To me they're much more about where he's coming from and what he's dealing with. I think this record has a great tenderness. And I'm sure it addresses the way he feels about the commitment to the band and to his family, to his children and Ali.'
