Honoured In Lisbon

The band received the Order of Liberty in Portugal tonight, honouring their longtime humanitarian work.

President Jorge Sampaio made the award at the presidential palace a few hours before tonight's Lisbon show.

He commended U2 for many years combining 'the public exposure it received from its musical success with the protection of humanitarian causes.'

Bono took the opportunity to encourage the people of Portugal to do more to help fight extreme poverty.
