Kiss The Future

Beginning February 23, 'Kiss the Future', the acclaimed documentary feature film that tells the story of how U2 played one of their most famous concerts in Sarajevo after the end of the Bosnian war, will debut at select AMC locations throughout the United States before a full theatrical run.

'Kiss the Future', directed by Nenad Cicin-Sain, produced by Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, and Sarah Anthony, and featuring appearances by Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton, Christiane Amanpour, and former President Bill Clinton, is a story of defiance amidst the siege of Sarajevo during the Bosnian War that wreaked havoc in Bosnia and Herzegovina from 1992 to 1995.

The film focuses on a vibrant underground community that used music and art to effect change and garner global attention by ultimately inspiring American aid worker Bill Carter to ask U2 to help raise awareness about the devastating conflict.

During the Bosnian War, Carter met Bono at a U2 show in Verona, Italy, where he managed to interview the singer for Sarajevan television. They went on to collaborate on the legendary satellite link-ups from Sarajevo featured during the European leg of the Zooropa tour, and later on Carter's documentary 'Miss Sarajevo', which Bono executive produced.

'Kiss the Future', which had its world premiere at the Berlinale and opened The Tribeca Film Festival in 2023, follows U2's promise to perform a post-war concert that eventually led to an iconic performance for more than 45,000 fans in a liberated Sarajevo on September 23, 1997 — a show that lives on as a joyous collective memory.

'Even in the darkest times, the people of Sarajevo were able to find purpose through playing music, making art and helping others', director Nenad Cicin-Sain said. 'They did not just survive, they thrived'.

More than 25 years later, Damon says it's a message germane for times such as these.

'The powerful message of peace is as relevant and important today as it was in September 1997 when Bill Carter and Sarajevan community leaders brought U2 to post-war Sarajevo', he said. 'Artists Equity is proud to bring Nenad's wonderful, life-affirming film to theater audiences across the United States.'

On February 21 (at 7pm local times), select AMC Theatres throughout the U.S. will host an exclusive early screening: 'KISS THE FUTURE: A Dolby Special Event' will include an introduction from producers Damon and Affleck, plus a pre-recorded post-film discussion hosted by Deadline's Matt Carey with director Cicin-Sain, Vesna Andree Zaimovic (the journalist and musicologist who is now ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to Spain), and Carter (who wrote the screenplay based on his Bosnian memoir 'Fools Rush In')  — in conversation with Edge and Adam, who talk about their personal experiences with the Sarajevan creative community whose extraordinary commitment to art and life amidst the most dire circumstances continues to be an inspiration for generations of people around the globe.

Tickets for this special event, presented in Dolby Cinema, are on sale now at amctheatres.com or via the AMC Theatres mobile app.

Kiss the Future
Absolute Must see. I would never want to imagine what those people went thru. It was nice that U2 raised awareness of the Siege of Sarajevo. War is such a waste.

I attended the special with the post-film interviews. It was such a great documentary about the people of Sarajevo and how they got by for those years during the conflict and U2 keeping their word to play there. Go see it!!
