'Kitsch Domestic Glassware'

26 Feb 2008
In Dublin this week ? You've a few days left to catch 'Lumia Domestica', a series of 'kaleidoscopic light paintings' by U2's own Willie Williams.

The band's longtime Show Director and tour diarist, Willie actually started working with the band twenty five years ago. Today. Right now he has his own lighting installation showing within the Lightwave programme at the Science Gallery in Dublin's Trinity College. We asked him to describe it for us. This is what he said:

"Lumia Domestica" is a installation comprising a series of kaleidoscopic light 'paintings' on the gallery walls, made by refracting light through a range of the ugliest and kitschest domestic glassware you can imagine. Essentially it is recreating the Northern Lights by taking your wedding present nightmare and seeing it, quite literally, in a different light.'
