Late Late Show Tonight

29 May 2009
The band performed Magnificent on The Late Late Show in Dublin tonight, special guests for the tenth anniversary - and final show - hosted by Pat Kenny.

After the performance Edge gave Pat Kenny the guitar he'd been playing, a 'Music Rising' special, one of only 300 in the world he pointed out. Bono gave Pat some sunglasses... while Larry searched his pockets but came up empty handed.

Chatting about the upcoming tour, Larry said how much the band were looking forward to playing Croke Park: 'We fly the flag wherever we can and no more than in our homeland.'

Bono recalled a discussion he'd been having with Larry about Ireland's economic situation: "Just tell people about the jewel of the North Atlantic and they'll find a way to get out of this mess.'

Lots of great banter with Pat about the democracy that is U2, ending with this soundbite:'The individual ideas are subservient to a band idea.'
