'Magnificent'

5 Jul 20113
Chicago.  Show day.

All day I’ve felt like I’m in Canada, which is odd but I’m not going to over-analyse. I escaped for a late breakfast with an old friend whom I last saw during the ZooTV tour in Vancouver (maybe that goes some way to explaining the Canadian mood).  From there to the venue where I managed to not only blag my pass-less friends into the stadium but also their car, which was more of a triumph than I could have hoped for.
Soldier Field is a great-looking stadium and sits right in the centre of the city.  The 360 stage looked magnificent in there, especially from the higher seats, presenting the Chicago skyline as a backdrop.  During the gig, Bono mentioned the White Sox victory and the crowd booed, which is the final straw as far as regards my total non-comprehension of things sporting.
We did a runner to Montreal after the show giving us a very late arrival there but we get to stay put for a few days now, which will help the energy levels, one hopes. Finally got to bed in the wee small hours, still feeling like I was in Canada, a mood at last no longer inappropriate.

Fantastic show in a perfect setting. THE BEST TOWN for this band. An incredible symbiosis. (It was Cubs fans booing the White Sox & not KC FWIW)

Love this photo
The only thing missing is face shots of the lighting crew on the glowing screen. Would be cool to photoshop.
