MusiCares Honours Adam

15 Jun 201718

Adam will be honoured in New York on June 26th, at a benefit night to mark MusiCares' addiction recovery programmes.

Performers on the night include Jack Garratt, The Lumineers, Macy Gray and Michael Franti, with Cat Deeley hosting the evening. (Stop Press. One more act on the bill - U2!)

MusiCares - a Grammy initiative - offers a variety of addiction recovery services, including the signature MAP Fund,  a pool of resources to address addiction and recovery needs, which provides addiction recovery treatment and sober living resources for members of the music community.

"Adam is a hero to fans and music creators around the world,” said Neil Portnow, President/CEO of The Recording Academy and MusiCares, “And he is also a hero in the world of recovery for his fearless determination to give voice to the issues of addiction that affect — and all too often devastate — our music community."

"MusiCares does such vital work in helping vulnerable people across our industry,” Adam added. "I know from experience the importance of an accessible, supportive environment in times of need and I'm always happy to do what I can to benefit this important organization."

Very proud fan!
I have to say that I´m a very proud fan of the band, nothing matters more to me rather than tell my son that this band is great, in every issue it has to be, as artists, as human beings, as rock stars, as a family... We see all the time astists having problems with drugs, addictions, money problems, etc. and surely you guys does too, but you've managed to stay in the right track, and you my friend, Adam, are a role model, you're someone that any youngster or adult can reach to understand how to take care of himself and make it through. You're style playing that bass is so unique, the same way and style you seem to live your life, so yep, I'm a very proud fan of U2 and yourself. So keep it up and congratulations for this awars, you don't only deserve it but a man like you is certainly the kind of person all the organizations have to reach for the benefit of all mankind.

Congratulations on your award Adam!
Thank you for opening up about your personal struggles. I have lost many people in my family to addiction. This might sound weird but I am so proud of you Adam. It takes real courage to stand before others and talk about these hard things that make people so vulnerable. It takes strength! Please know that you are giving hope and inspiration to many people! Will be cheering and singing along in San Diego soon when you play for us! I cannot wait! So excited!

Grateful Recovering thanks you
Dear Sir Adam Clayton, Thank you for being a beacon to light my way. I wrote you a letter of personal thanks on the plane to Vancouver on May 11, but I failed to pass it to you in Chicago when I might've had a chance. I had my hands too full with Elsha on Facebook video chat in my right and a picture of you signing my baby two years ago in my left. I entered recovery six months after you signed my daughter's U2 onesie, and so in Chicago I celebrated 18 months free. Thank you. My prayer and meditation is that I will continue to work of shining the light in my corner of the world, as you have shone the light for so many of us U2 fans and music fans around the world. There is no end to love. In gratitude, Marcy

The opening announcement to BAD brought my wife to tears; we know and understand how addiction destroys families as we are one in the wake of it's devastation. Please continue spreading the word and supporting these wonderful organizations! Until someone is entangled in the depth of this disease with someone they LOVE (our child) can they fully comprehend the magnitude of its destruction! Again, THANK YOU!! Haven't missed a tour in 30 years and will continue!
