Why was Zooropa such an exceptional album?  You tell us!

Produced by Flood, Brian Eno and The Edge, Zooropa was released on 5th July 1993 on Island Records. U2 began writing and recording Zooropa in Dublin in February of that year, during a six-month break between legs of the industry-defining ZOO TV Tour.  Initially intended as just an EP, Zooropa became a fully-fledged album with 10 tracks – including singles 'Numb', 'Lemon' and 'Stay (Faraway, So Close!)' - recorded in just six weeks, making it the fastest U2 album ever produced.

Inspired by the band's experiences on the ZOO TV Tour, Zooropa expanded on many of the tour's themes of technology and media oversaturation. The album went to Number 1 in Ireland, USA, United Kingdom, Japan, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Italy, Sweden, Austria, France, Switzerland, Germany, Holland, Norway, Denmark and Iceland. In 1994, Zooropa saw the band collect the Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album.

Streaming July 12
I Fell in love with U2 in the early 80s. Zooropa tour was my favorite; especially Bono’s alterego Me. MacPhisto! Zooropa Live from Sydney was the BEST show ever! How do I get to stream this next week?

Zooropa deserves a decent hd 5.1 mix
Contact Steven Wilson to remix Zooropa in 5.1 HD surround. Get it released and cash. This album, and the others too deserve a great sound. Instead of that there's only yellow, analogue, cracking music in a fantastic sleeve. Fans are getting tired of vinyl in hundred colours. By the way, streaming ZooTV for two days only is ridiculous. Give the collectors something too, could be a bonus feature on the Blu-ray. Just a creative idea.

A Masterpiece for generations
For me, Zooropa is the most formative musical album I have ever heard and will hear. I get goose flesh every time I hear it. Thank you U2 for this great album. a milestone for me.

What a memory!
I was 19, working my summer job before first year University as a cook in a small pub in town. The Pub had a TV hung high in a corner of the Dining room and the channel playing had a ticker tape graphic under the live feed. I was watching the news on a slow day and saw the announcement of the NEW U2 album to hit stores. No internet to build excitement, just old fashioned announcements. Excited I made plans to drive to Sunrise records to purchase the cd the next day and opened the cd to see the purple/blue disc begging to be played in my parents car cd player. ZOOROPA!!!!! what a different sound and what a blast it was that summer from that point on!! To this day "Stay" is on my list of forever songs. My heart travels to a time of innocence and care free when I hear it today! Thank you for my memories!!! D
