PJ Harvey Wins South Bank Show Award

8 Feb 2002
PJ Harvey has been named Best Pop Musician at the UK's South Bank Show Awards.

For PJ Harvey, who toured extensively with U2 on Elevation 2001, it is the latest of many honours for her most recent album, Stories From The City, Stories From The Sea, which won the coveted Mercury Music Prize last September.

PJ Harvey pipped U2 in the South Bank Awards, an annual celebration of the arts' most creative figures in the UK. She is shortlisted in the upcoming Brit Awards in the Best Female Artist category and for the NME Carling Best Solo Artist Award. And she is also up against U2 for Grammy Awards later this month - Polly has two nominations, for Best Rock Album and Best Female Vocal Performance for the single This Is Love.
