Larry rode into Dublin yesterday, to launch a new motorcycle safety guide.
Larry Mullen Jr was in Dublin on his Harley Davidson yesterday, helping to
promote the launch of a motorcycle safety booklet.
The booklet, This Is Your Bike, covers the essentials of safe motorcyling
and its publication coincided with new figures showing that while
motorcyles represent less than 2% of vehicles in Ireland, they account for
12% of road fatalities and 10% of road injuries.
More than eight in ten (83%) motorcyclists have never completed a
professional rider training course.
"I just hope that by doing this, someone will listen and decide to do
training before getting on a bike." said Larry. "It's not a cool thing to
get on a bike. It's not cool to take your life into your hands. It is a
dangerous undertaking that can get you killed."
The booklet was officially launched by Larry at the National Rehabilitation
Hospital, Dun Laoghaire.
Organisers claimed Larry was 'Ireland's most famous motorcyclist' before
cautiously adding, 'after Gay Byrne of course!'
