U2 Back To Slane Castle

U2.COM can confirm that the band will be the headline act at a one-day outdoor music festival at Slane Castle on August 25th.

The show will mark the twentieth anniversary of U2's only previous appearance at Slane when they supported Thin Lizzy. It will be U2's first Irish appearance since the PopMart Landsdowne Road concerts in August 1997.

Special guests include American rockers Red Hot Chili Peppers, Brit 2001 winners Coldplay and Kelis, Irish newcomers JJ72 and Relish.

'We've waited a long time to do this," said Larry Mullen. "It's going to be a beautiful day.'

The show will be the biggest date on U2's Elevation 2001 Tour which kicks off in Miami at the end of March. It will climax the European leg of the tour, the dates for which are set to be announced soon.

Tickets for the 10 hour, one day music festival are priced IR£36.50 plus booking fee and go on sale 7am on Saturday 10th March 2001.

Tickets are limited to six per person or transaction and will be available in person from 65 outlets throughout the 32 counties.
