U2 Nominated and Performing at Grammy Awards Tomorrow

20 Feb 2001
U2 will perform live at the 43rd annual Grammy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles tomorrow night.

The three-hour show from the Staples Center in Los Angeles will be broadcast on CBS-TV at 8 p.m. (EST/PST).

The album All That You Can't Leave Behind was released too late to be included in nominations for this year's Awards but the single Beautiful Day, released in September, does qualify and has earned U2 nominations in 3 categories - Record of the Year; Song of the Year and Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal. (See nominations in these categories below).

U2 have been succesful at the Grammy Awards several times over the years.

The band won Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal in 1987 for The Joshua Tree. They also won Album Of The Year for the The Joshua Tree in 1987.

They again won Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal in 1988 for Desire - and, at the same awards, won Best Performance Music Video for Where The Streets Have No Name.

In 1992 U2 won Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal for Achtung Baby and a year later returned to win Best Alternative Music Album for Zooropa.

In 1994 the band took home Best Music Video, Long Form for Zoo TV- Live From Sydney.
