Never underestimate the value of the odd survey to fill a gap when waiting for news on an album...

And here's a couple of polls just in. U2 have been voted 'best band of the past decade' in an online survey of 100,000 people for FHM Magazine in the UK. They pipped Red Hot Chili Peppers, Oasis and Coldplay for top spot, while 'All That You Can't Leave Behind' made it to fourth best album in the last ten years.

One poll still taking place is at ESPN where U2 are pitted against one Michael Jackson in a bid to identify 'Who is the bigger pop culture icon of the past 25 years?'

The band are on the list because 'When a group that hit it big 20 years ago goes on tour, everyone groans when they play "the new stuff." Well, not U2. Not only have they stayed on top for close to three decades, but they've also used their fame and fortune to speak out on political issues -- something you don't see most artists do.'

Couldn't have put it better ourselves! Need to move it though, Jackson is just ahead at present. You can change the course of entertainment history here.

Finally the new edition of Q Magazine lists the '100 Most Powerful People In Music' revealing which pop star has 'his own private mountain', is a '$300m yoga freak' and - hint, hint, - 'who's got George Bush on speed dial'. More here www.q4music.com
