U2360° TOUR

Aug 30 2010
Vienna, AT / Ernst Happel Stadium
56
After the briefest of five day breaks and the journey from Russia, the 360 Tour is underway again tonight in Vienna, Austria and the ninth show of the 2010 summer leg. Attendance records are broken at the Ernst Happel Stadium: 'On a Monday night - that's very rock and roll of you.'

Larry Mullen is a Friday night man, explains Bono. Edge definitely 'Saturday night' and Adam? ' Adam Clayton is definitely a Sunday night man... watching the Discovery Channel.'

Every Breaking Wave makes another appearance in the set tonight, after Still Haven't Found and there's a sweet lyrical twist in 'In A Little While' - 'when you've known her 28 years' - as Bono references his anniversary with Ali. And a tantalising burst of Discotheque at the end of 'Crazy' before the politically potent passage that features Sunday Bloody Sunday, MLK and Walk On with spoken or visual references to the people of Israel/Palestine, the Irish flag and Aung San Suu Kyi:'The Nelson Mandela of this time, she is in danger this night.'

That's a pretty broad-brush sketch of the set from us but if you were there tonight you'll have your own highlights and memorable moments. Add your reviews and upload your photos to below.

Beautiful Day in Melbourne

Than you for unforgettable evening. In this evening Bono was an atomic bomb. And the public was very good too. We love U2 forever.

Freezing but Blinding
Despite the cold it was a awesome night. The Band was in great shape and the audience really lifted off. I had a seat in block o - but no one was sitting. Awesome.

I'll go crazy..
It was great.. there are few details that I noticed.. While Bono was singing "I'll go crazy".. he was on stage, guys on catwalk.. he sang.. "Every beauty needs to go out with an idiot How can you stand next to the truth and not see it?.." And he pointed out to them on "every beauty" and pointing on himeslef on "idiot. How can you stand next to the truth and not see it"... Also... Bono was really in the mood.. talking about Monday night.. and about Edges problem with strings due to the cold wind.. :) Greetings form Zagreb.

Vienna!
My first concert abroad, in a city I love so much... The crowd was going crazy even before everything started! I had already seen the Turin gig but I was happy to hear Every breaking wave, NYD and Ultraviolet. Too bad Edge had many problems with his guitars, wind was freezing cold. And thanks to all the people I met in the queue (Miriam, Silvio, Patrick and the Tchechien guys), great company! (coming to the concert with the U2 Ubahn... that was crazy as well!)

U2 in Vienna, 30th of August 2010
An amazing evening for me too, my third show in Austria since 1997. I enjoyed the show very very much. I went to the show without reading any of the papers before, so I had absoloutely no idea about the setlist :-) I sadly missed "Unknown caller", with The Edge's outstanding heartwarming solo, but the new songs were a really nice suprise, I liked them! Watching the show in Block E2 (about 100 meters away from the outer stage, the sound was pretty good for 2/3 of the time, sometimes a kind of 'overloaded' (like in Streets, Vertigo and Ultraviolett). For me it was sometimes hard to 'seperate' the sounds, it felt strange. The stage with the lightning was simply brilliant, the joice of colors and intensity fit perfectly to each song. While listening to 'Moments of surrender' I closed my eyes nearly complete, but some lightning came into my eyes in a completely different way, I felt like I was standing on an spaceship with all the stars around me, feeling the infinity of space. Crazy! Bono, Adam, Larry, Egde & Team: You did a great job, Thank you very much, I can't wait to see you again here in Vienna.

Every wave of joy
While I was waiting in front of the stadium it was very cold and windy, but all this was forgotten when I managed to stand in the front row of the inner circle. The atmosphere was very joyous from the beginning and Bono thanked the crowd by saying: "Wien ist anders (Vienna is different)". Being so close to U2 was an intense and magical experience I will never forget. With the band moving around on stage, outer ring and bridges there was an outstanding communication with the audience and I was particularly moved by Bono;s regained ability to use his expressive body language again. The sound was brilliant and U2 were performing all songs with incredible energy and joy. I was especially touched by the pure beauty of "Every Breaking Wave" and "MLK" and "I Still Haven;t Found..." inspired the crowd to repeat the chorus several times after the music had stopped. When I heard the great opening notes of "Where The Streets..." I felt shivers and then I tried to jump as high as possible. "Ultra Violet" was one of the most memorable highlights again and all the shimmering lights created such a wonderful atmosphere. BONO, EDGE, LARRY AND ADAM, THANK YOU SOOO MUCH FOR COMING TO MY COUNTRY!!!

OUT OF CONTROL & WITH OR WITHOUT YOU
I know it's unlikely , but it will be very nice if U2 will play their first single "Out of control" like they did on "Slane" gig back in 2001...also I would like to hear "With or Without You" with more emotions from Bono and less talking it through the song rather than sing it from the heart like he did on "The Joshua Tree"...I also hope it doesn't rain in Vienna 'cause weather forecast is not looking so good right now! See you in Vienna and Paris...All the best from Croatia a land of a thousand islands :-)))
