From The Streets To The Screen

24 Nov 201412
Celebrating the power of urban art, the band invited 11 of the world's most acclaimed street artists to create a film inspired by Songs Of Innocence.

With the political murals of Northern Ireland as a reference point, Oliver Jeffers, Robin Rhode, D*Face, Mode 2, Chloe Early, Ganzeer, Vhils, Maser, ROA, DALeast, and Todd James were given complete freedom to respond to the band's music through a series of part-animated, part live action films.

The final collection, Films Of Innocence, is an exhilarating display of diversity in approach, style and commentary, a striking visual counterpoint to the album.  'Powerful and cognizant, their works scale the globe, play with time, and weave between heightened reality and animated dreamscapes.'

Jefferson Hack, co-founder of Dazed & Confused magazine, is Creative Director of Films of Innocence which is available to pre-order on iTunes.

U2, The most influecial band of our time
The men that they have become during their rise to the top, is absolutely astonishing. I don't know If I could have made the decision that they all did back when the "WAR" album hit the masses. Heavy decisions to make as young lads. Very grounded in the notion that music can change the world. This began the journey of the men that are U2!

Not available in Denmark
It is not available in every itunes stores. I can´t buy it in my store, which is the danish one. By the way, I can´t understand why U2 wants to make these videos totaly unknown and exclusive, instead of making themselves heard and seen.

Feel happy :)
Amazing! I really enjoyed these films a lot. Every artist has created very individual interpretation of ,,his'' song, using different techniques to deliver the main thought. Beautiful experience, makes me discover these songs again and again, endlessly (:
