'Adding more?'

25 Mar 2010659
Speaking to Dave Fanning of Irelands's 2FM a few weeks back, Edge said the band had begun thinking about this year's shows. Dave mentioned that in 2009 there was always five or six songs from No Line on the Horizon: 'Would you keep that many?

'We were talking about adding more,' said Edge, in a decidedly enigmatic tone. 'Changing out some of the songs...'

And that was it, the subject was closed, he was giving nothing else away. But we can dream can't we ? So here's the thing: if you could add in a song from 'No Line' which wasn't a regular in the set last year ... what would it be?

And while you're musing on that one, what song from any earlier album, which didn't feature in 2009, would you love to hear in the mix this time around ?

Answers in the box below please. One different track from No Line, one other track from any earlier album. (And why, if you have the time...)

(If your memory needs refreshing on the songs the band were performing last year, check the 2009 dates and click on any city to see the set list.)

STAND UP COMEDY!!
Stand Up Comedy, and Discotheque as well if you please :)
Fly Baby
Longer Encore would be nice
The last show was EXCELLENT! I would have liked to hear Bad, The Fly, and Wild Horses, though. Maybe they could add them to the encore...

Stand Up Comedy
Love to see Stand Up Comedy live. Also something from Pop, preferably Gone or Please. Please don't leave out Ultraviolet, that is my favorite part of the show. Probably generational thing, my first show was Zoo TV Indoor at Knickerbocker Arena, Albany, NY. See you in Miami!

I think that the play list from last year was great, I particularly liked the more dancey tracks, and perhaps more remixes with electronic wildness. Auchtung Baby is my favourite album, so a couple of those songs would be great. Thanks

take off your boots
Fez is a great idea, I was looking forward to it last year - in place of Get on Your Boots - along with the All I Want is You / Where the Streets Have No Name combo as done at Slane Castle!

Fez/ Gone
Both songs would fit perfect with the stage...

Something darker!
I think the set list needs a few darker songs to help the eb and flow. Maybe bringing back 'bullet', 'the fly', 'new york' or even 'exit'. The addition of 'white as snow' would be awesome. And please keep 'ultraviolet' it such a unique song.
NO ROOM FOR MORE NLOTH
Last year's set had 7 of the 11 songs fairly well settled into the show. White and Cedars are just not concert worthy... unless they are completely remixed. Fez is about 2:30 of hauntingly brilliant U2 wrapped in about a 90 second intro and 1 minute wind-down that are subpar. Could make for a great song if they stripped away the buns and served just the meat, EXCEPT that meat hinges on "uhhhh, ohhhhh" vocals that Bono would be stretched to repeat every night. That leaves only Stand Up. So, maybe they ditch No Line and add Stand Up, but more likely... Edge was probably pulling a head fake with his comment, and U2.com is brilliantly keeping us contributing while we're all anxiously waiting and guessing and hoping. I'm betting they play less NLOTH. Regardless, we all have our wishes - so please play Exit and Window in the Skies!

New Songs
It's so hard to pick, so many amazing songs. From No Line, I'd say White as Snow. As for the other, Starin at the Sun.

Recommendations on what to do and what N
I'd say to give "White as Snow" a shot, just because it is in fact a great song and deserves to be played. If not that, then "Stand up comedy"; that song was made to be played live (something along the lines of Love and Peace or Else). Another song to consider adding, would be "Love Is Blindness". "With or Without You" could be swapped for "Love is Blindness", as it is perfect as an encore song (circa ZooTV). It would also revive Achtung Baby's status as one of the greatest albums ever, and would be perfect timing, considering AB is reaching its 20th year anniversary. I want to stress however, that Ultraviolet and Unforgettable Fire remain in the setlist. These two songs are some of the best highlights of the show, and it would be a great mistake to subtract either, especially Ultraviolet.

Would love to hear "Fast Cars"--like on the re-mix album. Adding in "Stand Up Comedy" would be awesome--in case there are any soul rockin' people not already on their feet!

Keep/Add
Keep: -"No Line on the Horizon" (Possibly their best song in the last decade!) -"Ultraviolet" (Delightfully unexpected, dramatic, and just gorgeous to behold.) -"In A Little While" (Scratch that. *This* is their best song in the last decade. Almost painfully beautiful.) -- Add from NLOTH: -"Stand Up Comedy" (Some of B's best lyrics, and a terribly funky bassline from the beautiful Adam Clayton.) -- Add from older albums: Definitely something from Zooropa! "Daddy's Gonna Pay For Your Crashed Car" or "Lemon" would be spectacular with this stage--the drama they bring would do a marvelous job of spicing up the setlist, and they're punchy enough to keep newer fans interested.
