The Joshua Tree Tour 2017

5 Jan 2017255

The band will be out on the road again this summer celebrating the 30th anniversary of The Joshua Tree and performing the album in full, every night. In July the tour brings them home to Croke Park in Dublin, 30 years after the original Joshua Tree Tour’s two memorable shows at the Dublin venue in June 1987.

U2: The Joshua Tree Tour 2017 kicks off in Vancouver on 12th May for a run of dates across North America, and includes U2’s first ever U.S. festival headline appearance at the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival.

The tour then moves to Europe with the first stop in London on 8th July, finishing up in Brussels on 1st August and taking in their hometown show in Croke Park on 22nd July.

Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds will provide support across Europe, with Mumford & Sons, The Lumineers and One Republic joining the tour through North America.

“It seems like we have come full circle from when The Joshua Tree songs were originally writtten, with global upheaval, extreme right wing politics and some fundamental human rights at risk,” reflects The Edge. “To celebrate the album - as these songs seem so relevant and prescient of these times too - we decided to do these shows, it feels right for now. We’re looking forward to it.”

“Recently I listened back to The Joshua Tree for the first time in nearly 30 years,” adds Bono. “It’s quite an opera. A lot of emotions which feel strangely current, love, loss, broken dreams, seeking oblivion, polarisation… all the greats... I’ve sung some of these songs a lot… but never all of them. I’m up for it, if our audience is as excited as we are… it’s gonna be a great night. Especially when we play at home. Croke Park.. it’s where the album was born, 30 years ago.”

Tickets for U2: The Joshua Tree Tour 2017 are on sale Monday, January 16th in Ireland, the UK and Europe and on Tuesday, January 17th in the US and Canada. Ticket prices start at €35.00 / £35.00 / $35.00 with general admission floor tickets at  €70.00 / £70.00  / $70.00.

As usual, there is an exclusive priority presale for U2.com subscribers from Wednesday, January 11th (9am) through Friday, January 13th (5pm) local times. Tickets will be general admission on the floor and reserved seating in the stands. There will be a 4 ticket limit for subscriber purchases and a 6 ticket limit commencing with public sales. In North America, all floor tickets will be paperless unless otherwise noted.

Find all the dates below and keep an eye on our Tour page for the latest ticket and package information.

Released to universal acclaim on March 9th 1987 and featuring hit singles “With Or Without You”,“I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” and “Where The Streets Have No Name”, The Joshua Tree went to No. 1 in Ireland and around the world selling in excess of 25 million copies and catapulting Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr “… from heroes to superstars” (Rolling Stone).

Time Magazine put U2 on its cover in April 1987, proclaiming them “Rock’s Hottest Ticket” in a defining year for the band that saw their arena dates roll into stadium shows to accommodate escalating demand - setting them on course to become one of the greatest live acts in the world today.

The 12 months that followed saw the band create now-iconic moments: the traffic-stopping Grammy Award-winning music video on the roof of a Los Angeles liquor store, winning a BRIT Award and two Grammys - including Album of the Year - their first of 22 received to date, distinguishing U2 as the most awarded rock band in Grammy history; as well as a triumphant return home with the original Joshua Tree Tour for four unforgettable shows in Belfast, Dublin and Cork in the summer of 1987.

In 1987 Hot Press called The Joshua Tree “their most influential album yet”. As for this tour? Noel Gallagher says, “It will be both a pleasure and an honour to play my part in what still remains the greatest show on earth.”

Cannot wait!
Having last seen this band live at the 02 in London in October 2015 I am very much looking forward to seeing them in a stadium setting playing this album at Twickenham. I am bringing a guest who has been a long time fan of the band and it will be a first for them to see U2 live, personally I cannot wait to experience such tracks as 'Exit', 'One Tree Hill' and 'Red Hill Mining Town'. I'll also be looking forward to anything else on the set and any surprises! Bring on July 8th!

Can't wait for June 28th
I just got my ticket for June 28th in Met Life Stadium (New Jersey). After 30+ U2 live shows I still get just as excited each time I get tickets. The shows in the 2015 tour were incredible and 2017 should be even better. Looking forward to Songs of Experience. I thought Songs of Innocence was a great album.

Second Chance
I lived in Bosnia and I missed U2 Concert in Sarajevo 23 September 1997 (my wife was pregnant and we couldn't go)... Now, 20 Years after, that "baby" is taking me to see the best Bend on the World. How to call this?

By strange coincidence
So on the same night I'm chatting with my daughter about visiting her in England (I'm in OZ) when literally I get the email that U2 announced this tour. We had just discussed the dates of my visit & where we'd like to travel across the county, including Ireland. Anyway ... bought my presale tickets for the Croke Park GIG. :) U2 haven't been to OZ for I can't remember how long (I've been to all their Sydney gigs since Rattle & Hum & I was at the videoed Sydney show) & now I'm going to see them in their home town ... couldn't be better.

:( Australia Ignored again
excited yet sad at the same time as Australia had been overlooked again.. There could well be a swag of limited edition U2 collectable available for sale from this very disappointed long term fan.... Or do I look at it I was at the last gig U2 played in Australia and live with that....

Thank you U2 for Joshua 1991-2016
Joshua was the beloved eldest Son of Karen and Murray, brother to Sam, stepson to Robert, stepbrother to Amélie, boyfriend to Nina and a friend to everyone who met him. He was named after the Joshua Tree album and "Where the Streets Have No Name" was his favorite music video ever. He left us on the 14th of December 2016 at home after a tragic accident. We hope to be at the Vancouver show in his memory because we would have gone with him for his birthday, to all reading this please hug a loved one tight and cherish them whilst you can in Joshy's memory...

Here's To Thirty Years of Great Music an
1987 was a big year for me…… I graduated from high school, visited my future {now former} home Chicago for the first time and turned eighteen. The other major highlight that year was my solo fourth-row seat to U2’s Joshua Tree concert and meeting Bono and the late Dennis Sheehan. Yes, this was my first U2 concert. And since then, I have attended each tour {except for the Lovetown and Popmart tours}. I also managed to see both North America legs of the Vertigo and Elevation tours. I was even fortunate enough to see U2 kick off their North America leg of the 360 tour in Chicago at Soldier Field as well as the Innocence + Experience tour in Vancouver at Rogers Arena. Well thirty-years later I am happy to say that I will be attending The Joshua Tree Tour 2017 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA!! Yes, I am soooo excited that I will be able to get my singing and dancing on once again to my all-time favorite band!!! And yes, I am already looking forward to their next tour!!!!!

Joshua Tree was my first concert, age 12, in Boston (Bono had a broken arm)! Now I can take my son Joshua, age 11, to see it! I love you Bono.

Predicted Greatness For U2
I have been a fan of U2 since the release of their 2nd album "October" I then purchased their first album "Boy. I recorded them both on cassette passed around it around to my friends and told them "This will be the Band of the 80's" What I didn't know at the time is that they would be even stronger some 30 years later! The original Joshua Tree tour was my first live show by the boys in Minneapolis MN and I have enjoyed many more since then. #bulletthebluesky #ingodscountry

2017 Tour
Hi all. Attended the Wembley gig in June 87 with my brother and mates from school, remember queuing early one Sunday morning in Coventry to get tickets. Brilliant concert with the band also singing "Stand by me" and Van Morrison's"Gloria".30 years on hoping for tickets for Twickenham or, even better, Dublin.

U2 MUST COME TO MILWAUKEE!!!!!
Very excited about your upcoming tour, but you need to add a stop in Milwaukee! You can visit Harley-Davidson Motor Company and then rock the stage at the Summerfest grounds on Lake Michigan! Add Milwaukee in 2017!!!!

We will be there !
Given no OZ tour we decided to make the big trip to London last tour for our first overseas trip. 2 concerts at the end of a 6 week holiday. WOW, we were blown away. Presales tickets meant we sat with the best U2 fans from around the world, Carribean, New Zealand and Scotland. Beloved wife had an accident day 2 of 42 day holiday and broke her shoulder. Has surgery and toughed it out for the rest of the trip, no way was she missing U2..... This time Amsterdam ! Will never miss a tour !

Please play "Bad" in London!
Please play "Bad" in London the 8th of July!! Please! Please! Please! (Why not play "Please" also? :) "Bad" should always be played on all your concerts like with our without you and others you always play. It such a great song. How it builds up is amazing. How it goes on an on... Got to hear it during on one of your shows in Stockholm during the IE tour 2015 for the first time ever. Absolutely amazing!! Always hoped to hear it since my first concert in 1997 but not been on the "right" concerts even if I've seen you more than 10 times during the years on all tours since Pop Mart. Really looking forward to see you in London again, but please always come to Sweden and Gothenburg during the tours! You know that we are your biggest fans and a great audience. :) Gothenburg is a great spot to reach out to all your fans in Scandinavia so we hope that this time was just an exception when you chose not to go to Gothenburg, at least during this European leg of the Joshua Tree Tour. Hopefully there is another leg of this tour waiting with Gothenburg included?
